Abstract: Traditional video representation is just a time sequence——video stream, thus it is difficultfor computer to recognize or perceive video in the content level. To efficiently access and utilize video information, a suitable organization of video data is criticalThis paper proposes a video organization scheme, which arranges video into four layers: video program, and integrates these techniques into a prototype system.

A multiscale-contour-based interpolation framework for generating a time-varying quasi-dense point cloud sequence

Chu-hua HUANG,Dong-ming LU,Chang-yu DIAO

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2016, Volume 17, Issue 5,   Pages 422-434 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1500316

Abstract: To speed up the reconstruction of 3D dynamic scenes in an ordinary hardware platform, we propose an efficient framework to reconstruct 3D dynamic objects using a multiscale-contour-based interpolation from multi-view videos. Our framework takes full advantage of spatio-temporal-contour consistency. It exploits the property to interpolate single contours, two neighboring contours which belong to the same model, and two contours which belong to the same view at different times, corresponding to point-, contour-, and model-level interpolations, respectively. The framework formulates the interpolation of two models as point cloud transport rather than non-rigid surface deformation. Our framework speeds up the reconstruction of a dynamic scene while improving the accuracy of point-pairing which is used to perform the interpolation. We obtain a higher frame rate, spatio-temporal-coherence, and a quasi-dense point cloud sequence with color information. Experiments with real data were conducted to test the efficiency of the framework.

A novel robotic visual perception framework for underwater operation Research Article

Yue LU, Xingyu CHEN, Zhengxing WU, Junzhi YU, Li WEN

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 11,   Pages 1602-1619 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2100366

Abstract:

Underwater robotic operation usually requires visual perception (e.g., object detection and tracking), but underwater scenes have poor visual quality and represent a special domain which can affect the accuracy of visual perception. In addition, detection continuity and stability are important for , but the commonly used static accuracy based evaluation (i.e., average precision) is insufficient to reflect detector performance across time. In response to these two problems, we present a design for a novel robotic visual perception framework. First, we generally investigate the relationship between a quality-diverse data domain and in detection performance. As a result, although domain quality has an ignorable effect on within-domain detection accuracy, is beneficial to detection in real sea scenarios by reducing the domain shift. Moreover, non-reference assessments are proposed for detection continuity and stability based on object tracklets. Further, online tracklet refinement is developed to improve the temporal performance of detectors. Finally, combined with , an accurate and stable underwater robotic visual perception framework is established. Small-overlap suppression is proposed to extend (VID) methods to a single-object tracking task, leading to the flexibility to switch between detection and tracking. Extensive experiments were conducted on the ImageNet VID dataset and real-world robotic tasks to verify the correctness of our analysis and the superiority of our proposed approaches. The codes are available at https://github.com/yrqs/VisPerception.

A Video Scan Format Conversation Algorithm Based onSpatio-temporal Weight and Edge Direction

Ding Yong,Lu Shengli,Shi Longxing

Strategic Study of CAE 2007, Volume 9, Issue 10,   Pages 49-54

Abstract:

De-interlace is to convert interlaced images to progressive ones.  In this paper,  a de-interlacing algorithm based on spatio-temporal weight and edge direction is presented.  It consists of motion detection,  low-angle edge detection,  and spatio-temporal weight adaptive interpolation.  It uses total 4 fields information captured in field storage to detect the presence of motion.  And it detects low-angle edge by an adaptive searching radius in which the 6°edge is obtained.  The proposed method using spatio-temporal adaptive interpolation can obtain quite good display quality and satisfies real-time process of HDTV sequences.
